The Indonesian government is soon to kick off the rehabilitation and reconstruction program in areas affected by Mt Merapi eruptions in Yogyakarta. In addition, a national park is expected to be settled on the zone.

"A national park, wherever possible, must be set up in this area. In the future, it will become the landmark of Yogyakarta," said Vice President Boediono on Friday.

In the mean time, Vice Presidential spokesperson, Yopie Hidayat, said in a statement that the total budget required for the reconstruction and rehabilitation process will reach Rp1.35 trillion for the period of between 2011 and 2013.

Yopie stated that the fund is allocated to rebuild the ruined sectors such as, "housing, Rp247 billion, infrastructures, Rp417.7 billion, economy, Rp222.2 billion, social, Rp149.3 billion, and inter-sectoral, Rp314.6 billion," said Yopie.

Meanwhile, 1,310 hectares of land must be reforested so as to rearrange the disaster-affected area.

Due to the danger exposed to the area, the government declared that it will be no longer safe to live on the disaster zone. It is reported that the number of inhabitants relocated from the area hit 2810 families.
